Battery holder systems enables faster, more reliable battery cell testing results

Cognition Energy, in partnership with Binder, is thrilled to unveil the new battery holder system, a revolutionary system for holding battery cells during electrical testing.

Cognition Energy is delighted to be partnering with Binder on the release of their Battery Holder System - a solution to enable quicker, more reliable cell testing. The product is custom-designed to fit in all thermal chambers, and quick change cell testing cards are used - enabling cells to be removed and changed efficiently. 


In today’s ever increasing eco conscious world, the need to switch to greener energy sources is paramount. This switch is causing an explosive growth in the battery industry, with an incredible need for safe, reliable batteries which have a long life. This is particularly apparent in the Electric vehicle industry, where the switch to EVs are ramping up considerably. The only way to ensure reliable batteries is through rigorous testing of the cells in real world scenarios. 


Cognition Energy’s focus is on enabling better next generation batteries to be created, by thoroughly evaluating at the cell level. Unfortunately, cell testing is a labour intensive job requiring skilled engineers and large numbers of cell testing channels & chambers. With the creation of the Battery Holder System, Cognition’s aim is to increase lab efficiency & safety, enabling more cells to be tested and better results to be achieved. 


Getting cells ready to test can take hours, as you need to connect to them electrically, carefully place temperature sensors and (if required) apply pressure to them. Trying to do this while reaching inside a thermal chamber is difficult to do, prone to mistakes and takes hours, during which time the expensive test equipment is idle. By adopting a battery holder system, cells can be prepared for testing on a workbench more quickly and more precisely. The test equipment only needs to be idle for a few moments while cell holders that have completed testing are swapped out for holders that will start new tests. Battery holder systems make staff more efficient, and increases equipment uptime by as much as 20% on short tests.
